RestaurWrap

Year: 2023

RestuarWrap was a cross-platform iOS and Android app I made with React Native in a mobile app development course at UConn. The purpose of this project was to combine all of the React Native skills learned throughout the course into one mobile app. Skills learned included how to create different types of navigation menus, using Google Maps to give directions in the app, allowing users to take and upload pictures into the app, making a “to-do list” and a tip calculator, and using databases. RestaurWrap’s main screens are Home, Get Directions, Tip Calculator, and Rate. Given the time constraints of this project, the Get Directions screen is not fully functional and just shows and example route from Storrs, Connecticut to a sushi restaurant in Willimantic, Connecticut. The “Tip Calculator” calculates the tip amount and the total bill after tip for the given input. The “Rate” screen uses a Firebase database to store and post reviews. Users can write and post restaurant reviews from 1 to 5-stars. I received a 95 on this final project and have another programming language to add to my toolbox.

A smartphone screen displays the Restaur-Wrap app. The header is green with bold white text reading "Restaur-Wrap." Below, the app title is repeated in green text followed by a tagline in blue italic text: "All about restaurants, all in one place." Underneath is a large black icon of a fork, knife, and spoon. The instruction "Click on the tabs below to get started." is shown at the bottom. The navigation bar includes icons and text for Restaur-Wrap, Get Directions, Tip Calculator, and Rate.
